Creatives I love to work with…

• Creatives who embrace the magic of writing and are open to growing their craft.
• Writers who have stories with surprising twists on familiar tropes to really make it their own.
• Stories with characters who try their best and fail, who make wrong choices, characters who refuse to give up.
• Romance writers, most subgenres especially Romcoms. I also enjoy fantasy, dystopian and Sci-Fi.
• Adult, Young Adult or Middle Grade fiction that’s character-driven, voice-y stories with unexpected premises.

The creatives I’m not right for…

• Any kind of historic fiction, high fantasy or epic fantasy.
• Picture books or non-fiction.
• Horror subgenres: slasher, religious horror, gore/splatter, or psychological.

Five things that make me smile, in no particular order:

1. When I’m reading and someone IRL, on TV or in a song says the exact word I’m reading.
2. Funny puns, especially unintended ones.
3. Tiny amigurumi animals.
4. Discovering chocolate that I put in a safe place (aka hid from my kids).
5. Serendipity.

About Me:

I’m an ambivert creative who loves imaginative problem solving and discussing the craft with others. I write sweet and evocative romance with a dark twist. My experiences as a biracial Black woman fuel not only my storytelling, but my endeavors to lift and support other marginalized writers. As a Craft Coach, I apply decades of writing experience to guide creatives to hone their craft, provide accountability, and to expand their vision for their career by imagining bolder. I help creatives overcome writers block to get un-stuck, reduce writing-related stress and build confidence.

I’m also a freelance developmental editor who wants creatives’ manuscripts to shine. This may include smoothing out plot issues, fleshing out flat characters, ramping up the tension/conflict, deepening emotions, enriching settings, and/or worldbuilding, etc.

My love of crochet has shown me similarities between yarn art and writing: it takes dedication, determination, and resilience to get through to The End. Similarly, my journey in the query trenches is one of persistence and perseverance. I am now represented by Amy Giuffrida.

• May feel like their brain has always worked differently than the majority of the population and/or may identify as neurodivergent, ADHD, or HSP.
• Feel like they’ve plateaued in their creative career/craft-evolution & want to break through to the next level.
• Want to step out of fear-based methods of operation and connect with fun, excitement, and ease in their work.

Creatives I’m not right for:

• Have a history of strong resistance to feedback. I am going to ask you to experiment. You will decide what works for you moving forward, but there must be a willingness to explore.
• Are not ready to do additional work weekly on their own. For coaching to be transformative my expectation is you will take what we explore in our sessions and experiment with them during our time together.
• Writers seeking editorial feedback in: picture books, romance, mystery, horror sub-genres of slasher, religious horror, gore/splatter, or psychological.

About me:

I’m a writer, coach, introvert, and intuitive (a/k/a Highly Sensitive Person-HSP) who loves to demystify how creative energy leads us to our highest potential.

I knew I was a writer long before I knew I was a coach or intuitive. Writing led me out of corporate America into editing, running an Arts non-profit, and life/business coaching. All of those roles were initially outside of my comfort zone, but I grew into them. I was content with the idea that a creative business coach and writer is what my career would consist of, until January of 2020 when creative curiosity led me to a book on intuition.

That book showed me I had been finely attuned to energy for my entire life. In 2024, I found the scientific research on HSPs and understood why I  would feel other people’s physical pain or emotional states. I also understood that this extra-sensory ability contributed to my creativity and the depth of processing needed for writing.

I’m a compulsive learner with coaching certifications and meditation training.

My clients learn to own their power and step into their full potential as they let go of inherited misbeliefs like, “You can’t make a living as a creative.”  I’ve seen client after client follow their creative instincts beyond their craft and embrace the magic, mystery, joy, surprise, fun, & adventure that comes when you follow your creative intuition in all aspects of your life.
