Last month I changed my email service provider for one reason alone—RSS feed functionality.
I don’t like having to do things more than once, and RSS feeds on my website(s) lets me post a blog and instantly send that post to countless different places.
For me it works like this:
I write a post on my Patreon page and hit publish. The RSS feed then:
- Auto emails the post to my Patrons email list
- Auto posts to the jessicaconoley.com blog
- Auto emails the post to everyone on my JessicaConoley.com Mailerlite email subscriber list
- Auto posts to my Goodreads author page
- Auto posts to my Amazon author page
If you are posting to your blog and then manually loading it into an email provider, formatting it, etc. is that the best use of your time?
Many sites have RSS feeds automatically built in, like:
- WordPress websites
- Substack
- Patreon
A lot of the time if you just put in the url with website.com/feed at the end that’s your RSS feed. (i.e. TheCECoaches.com/feed is the RSS info for my company website.) If that doesn’t work just google Does X provider/website include an RSS feed?
We’re creatives. Our time is best spent creating.
My time is best spent writing, coaching, or developing new content and classes, so anyplace I can save time and let automation do some of the work, I’m all in.
Have you used your RSS feed functionality, before? If so, where and how? Share in the comments below, so we can learn from your genius time saving ways too.
